The intensity of summer and the long hours of fasting can be exhausting, and the body has its own ways of letting you know when it needs water. Lethargy begins to set in, energy levels deplete, and the lips and tongue begin to feel excessively and annoyingly dry. Blowing glass after glass of water might not be the most practical thing to do, but there are ways to stay hydrated without having to consume water, and that’s why choosing high-potency foods in water.

Drink milk

Say no to salty treats

A diet based on processed and salty foods can really dehydrate your body, which your body doesn’t need. Although quite nutritionally inefficient, Iceberg lettuce is 96% water and is a great addition to any salad if you want to rehydrate. So if you don’t like soup, break your fast with a tasty salad instead. Add cucumbers and tomatoes to really boost water levels.


A watermelon is 92% water and 8% fruit. The fluids found in watermelon include salt, calcium, and magnesium, which is all your body needs after fasting all day. For an added twist, serve with a lemon juice vinaigrette and feta cheese.


Yes, you read that right. Be sure to moisturize your skin to keep it feeling fresh and hydrated in the morning. The best time to do this would be right after you get out of your morning shower and then once again before you go to bed. If you must be outdoors, sunscreen is essential to keep moisture locked in.
