Nutritionist Bhakti Kapoor, in her recent article, claims that consuming cinnamon in small amounts can help deal with low energy levels after meals.

“Eating half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder will prevent this (afternoon drop). What cinnamon does is it regulates your blood sugar levels. It is extremely beneficial for anyone with diabetes and insulin resistance,” she says.

The medicinal properties of cinnamon, which is loaded with antioxidants, have been known for thousands of years. From preventing heart disease to balancing hormones, this delicious spice should be consumed regularly to reap the maximum health benefits.

“Cinnamon gives you an extra energy boost when combined with caffeinated coffee. While cinnamon works to keep blood sugar stable, it also helps stabilize your energy levels, preventing the spike of sugar and the fatigue that can occur from meals and snacks,” Kapoor says.

Bhakti Kapoor also lists some health benefits of cinnamon that are backed by scientific research:

– Cinnamon can improve sensitivity to the hormone insulin

– Cinnamon lowers blood sugar levels and has a powerful anti-diabetic effect

– Use cinnamon and a little milk in your coffee instead of sugar and artificial cream


– Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on your oatmeal, wheat toast or yogurt

Kapoor, however, adds that cinnamon is hot in nature and doesn’t work for someone with a hot body.
