Rare periods or short period flow (hypomenorrhea) is a condition where menstruation is shorter (two days) or blood flow is less than normal. Period irregularities are caused by several factors such as hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiencies, unhealthy foods, stress, emotional trauma, low body weight, or prolonged use of birth control pills. Periods of continued scarcity are a cause for concern. However, you can cure it with natural home remedies.
Here is an herbal tea recipe suggested by yoga trainer Juhi Kapoor that will not only help you manage rare periods, but also provide relief from period cramps.
Juhi’s herbal tea recipe contains seeds of Shahi Jeera or caraway. This Shahi Jeera must not be cumin seeds because the two are different. Caraway seeds are darker and taste much sweeter than normal jeera, while cumin seeds are warmer in taste, lighter in color, and larger in size. Here is the herbal tea recipe:
Ingredients to use:
1 teaspoon – Caraway seeds
2 cups – Water
1 teaspoon – Jaggery
How to do:
Step 1: Soak a teaspoon of caraway seeds in two cups of water overnight.
Step 2: Next, boil the caraway seed water in the morning and reduce it to one cup.
Step 3: Now add a teaspoon of jaggery for taste.
Step 4: Filter the decoction and store it in a glass or bowl.
Step 5: Consume half of the drink in the morning and the other half in the evening. Repeat this for 3 days before your period starts.
According to the yoga trainer, it is not necessary to consume it daily but only 3 days before your expected period.
Apart from this herbal tea, ginger herbal tea, calendula herbal tea, papaya, parsley leaves and other foods fortified with zinc are also beneficial in times of scarcity.
