Being cooped up all winter isn’t fun at all, and that roller coaster we went on wasn’t exactly a treat either. Now, as May approaches, the Gilmore Car Museum is hosting fun events, so you can have more fun than just your league of golf. They call it auto show season. Classic cars are great for people who own them, but “cruising” nights get the rest of us, if you’ll pardon the expression, drooling over these vintage cars, because so many of us have memories attached to cars of that time.
The first of these “cruise-ins” is Wednesday, May 4. They are a weekly event, let it be, until the end of September. And these are events, with live music, and the Gilmore restaurant and grill are also open. And entry is free, but members get benefits, you might want to ask about that.
Just after the cruises begin, on Saturday May 7, there is a Mustang & Ford Show, the first of a weekend car show season. This premier show highlights Mustangs from the 80s and 90s, with a particular focus on Foxbody Mustangs, but this show is open to all makes and models of classic cars. And if you’re wondering what a Foxbody Mustang is, according to this source, it’s “the third generation of Ford’s iconic muscle car, which lasted from 1979 to 1993. They’re called Fox Body Mustangs because they have used the new Fox As one of the oldest generations, the Fox Body has seen many major changes over the years”.
And when the weather is nice, the drive to Hickory Corners is pleasant and reliving automotive memories is always fun.
